Karen Olson has worked for the founding member of Sterling Concrete since 1992 in prior endeavors. Since the formation of Sterling Concrete in 2004, she has held the title of Operations Manager, but has recently transitioned over to the key role of General Manger for the business in 2024. Karen graduated from Nichols College with a BSBA with a specialization in Accounting, and an MBA. She is also a Registered Nurse with an ADN from Mount Wachusett Community College, and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. In her free time, she enjoys fishing and watching the Red Sox, both passions her dad passed on to her.
Michael has worked in the Ready-Mix Concrete Industry since 1982. He began his career as a Concrete Mixer Driver and quickly transitioned into the Dispatch Office. At that time the industry was shifting from manual dispatch and moving toward computerization. Michael had both computer and customer service skills from his studies at Assumption College but credits his mentors in the industry who helped him develop exceptional customer and employee relationships. He is currently the Product Representative and assists dispatch in the Sterling Office.
Residing in Shrewsbury, MA with his wife Clara, they have 3 children, Patrick, Ryan, and Mikayla. Michael is a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He is one of 16 District Staff Officers for Vessel Exams in the United States, representing the First Northern District (Boston). He also achieved Public Affairs Specialist 3 at Air Station San Diego in 2023. Michael has been playing drums in Worcester area bands for over 20 years, is also a member of Construction Specifications Institute, enjoys camping, boating, fishing and as much time outdoors as possible.
Jeffrey Dauphinais is a Product Representative at Sterling Concrete with over 20 years in the concrete and construction industry. He holds an ACI Grade 1 Concrete Technician License and is an asset to have on the team with his extensive knowledge. Jeffrey has the immense ability to understand the customers’ needs and wants, which allows him to communicate all steps needed to follow through from start to finish. Jeffrey resides in Grafton, MA with his wife Kathy and two daughters (Lyla and Kendall). In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, attending his children’s sporting events and snowmobiling.
Mick has been in the construction industry for over 30 years. He started his career working for a Materials Testing Lab, where he was promoted to Manager on the Boston Central/Artery Tunnel Project (Big Dig). Since 1998, he has been a Quality Control Manager in the ready-mix concrete industry, as well as for aggregate quarries. In 2010, he began working for Sterling Concrete as the Quality Control Manager and has worn many hats in this role, including but not limited to, dispatching, batching, and operating a loader or driving a mixer when necessary. Mick is a member of MaCAPA and part of their Tech and Spec Committee. He is also on the board of the local CSI (Construction Specification Institute) chapter. Away from work, he is an avid golfer, a Bruins fan, and enjoys spending time on the beaches of Cape Cod.
David LaPointe joined Sterling Concrete as Sales Manager since its formation in 2004. Surrounded by a tremendous team of professionals, he is focused on the successful business plan that excellent customer service and quality products lead to great repeating customers. David started working in the industry in 1988 in Grafton, MA. During that time, the concrete industry was proudly served by several local families. George DeFalco, the founding member of Sterling Concrete, was one of the original family companies that served the Central MA market and where David learned the value of multiple product lines – Concrete, Asphalt and Aggregates. He is a lifetime member of MACAPA (MA Concrete & Aggregate Producers Association) and currently serves on the Board of Directors (2024). David resides in Mendon, MA with his longtime love, Kim. Four adult children between the two of them keep them active.
Robin started working part-time in the concrete industry in 1997 with responsibilities of billing and assisting in dispatch. As time passed, she then moved into a full-time Assistant Dispatch role. Once the business she was working for at that time sold, and after taking a short concrete hiatus, she began her career back in the concrete industry with Sterling Concrete in 2012. Robin worked in dispatch, billing, and learned to batch trucks during that period. She is currently working remotely for the business, where she assists with billing and payroll. Robin graduated with her associate degree in business from Mount Wachusett Community College and she loves antiquing, walking the beach and picking shells, and cruising in her Camaro during her free time.
Matt Kelty has served as the Dispatch Manager at Sterling Concrete since its inception in 2004. Prior to that, he gained valuable experience in the ready-mix concrete industry through various positions, including dispatch and quality control. Matt possesses a strong understanding of the concrete industry and a dedication to efficient and reliable dispatch operations. Beyond work, he enjoys golfing and spending quality time with family and friends. In addition, Matt has a strong passion for history.
Rebecca Timmons joined Sterling Concrete in early 2018 performing order entry for dispatch. Since joining the team she has become the Assistant Dispatch Manager and also shares other duties including payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivables. Rebecca came to Sterling Concrete with a strong customer service background working years in retail as a store manager.
Rebecca is the mother of 2 grown children (Louise and Brandon) and resides in Auburn, MA. In her free time she enjoys exercising, especially running and outdoor activities. She is also a big fan of country music and a big supporter of the Worcester Red Sox, attending as many games as possible during the season.
Eric Alitalo graduated from Fitchburg State University and went on to teach at Natick High School and Nashoba Regional in Bolton, MA. During the summer he worked in construction, which led him to receive an offer as a Sales Representative for a local concrete company. He spent over 20 years as their Sales Manager and was then promoted to General Manager. Having more than 50 years in the concrete industry through multiple mergers, he finally retired – but only for a couple of weeks! He was offered a sales position by the President of Sterling Concrete, George DeFalco, which he happily accepted due to his admiration for how the operation is run and has been a part-time team member since 2008. Eric and his wife, Brenda Barnicle, have 2 daughters each and enjoy their times in Fitchburg and Cape Cod.
Pam Johnson
Pam Johnson recently joined Sterling Concrete as Senior Accountant with over 20 years of experience in the manufacturing and construction industry. Pam graduated from Bay Path University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an Associate of Science degree in Accounting. Pam resides in North Oxford and in her free time she enjoys walking, going to the beach, attending sporting events and the theater, as well as spending time with her nieces and nephew.
